Valentines Day In Hendersonville TN

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Valentine’s Day is a time to celebrate love and spend quality hours with the people you care about the most. Whether you’re in a relationship or single, take some time today to appreciate those you love in your life.

Idea’s To Celebrate Valentines Day This Year

  • Enjoy a tasty treat. There are plenty of options when it comes to cooking and/or baking on Valentine’s Day. Make your significant other his or her favorite meal or sweet treat, or make your own favorite dish to enjoy on this day. Oh, and be sure to make enough for leftovers!
  • Make a personalized card. Instead of buying a card from the grocery store, take the time to make your own for a loved one. People love handwritten notes, especially when it’s from someone special. If you’re single this Valentine’s Day, make a card for fellow single friend to brighten the day and remind the person that he or she is also loved.
  • Watch a movie. We all know there are plenty of romance movies out there. Put on your favorite romantic comedy, or pick up your significant other’s favorite movie to watch together. Even better, if you’re single, pick up your own favorite movies to watch to pass the time this Valentine’s Day.
  • Do nothing! We all know Valentine’s Day can sometimes get a lot of hype. If you’re worried about not making a reservation in time, don’t feel like planning an extravagant night out, or simply not in the holiday mood this year, spend your day sitting back and relaxing.

From Hendersonville Family Dentistry, we wish you a Happy Valentine’s Day!

Fewer Adults Are Seeing the Dentist

Why Decline Going to the Dentist?

We recently learned that in a decade between 2000 and 2010, the amount of adults who regularly visited their dentist declined according to research. The percentage of adults who had regular checkups every six months declined from 41 percent in 2003 to 37 percent in 2010. The largest decline in dental care occurred in the 35 to 49 year old age group. That’s down from 43 percent in 2003 to just 38 percent in 2010.

There is some good news, however. While adults visit may have decreased, children’s visits were on the rise, particularly among low income families. More low income children are visiting the dentist now than they were ten years ago. Between 2000 and 2010, dental visits among low-income children increased in 47 states.

Every Six Months Please Come See Us.

Have you ever wondered  why Dr. Harbin and. Dr. Jones recommend that you come into the office for a dental checkup and cleaning every six months? While daily oral hygiene habits are essential to good oral health professional dental cleanings at Hendersonville Family Dentistry ensure you and your child’s teeth are treated to a deeper level of cleaning in addition to a thorough cleaning and teeth polishing, regular visits at Hendersonville Family Dentistry help us detect and prevent the onset of tooth decay and periodontal disease. During your visit we’ll check the health of your mouth, teeth, gums, cheeks and tongue for symptoms of any oral disease. We will also check old fillings and restorations as these can wear away over time from constant chewing, clenching and or grinding at night.

If you are overdue for your next checkup and cleaning, please give us a call to schedule an appointment. 615-822-8262

Celebrating MLK Day.

Martin Luther King Jr.

mlk-day

Martin Luther King Jr Day (officially birthday of Martin Luther King Jr.) is an American federal holiday marking the birthday of Martin Luther King Jr. It is observed on the third Monday of January each year, which is around King’s birthday, January 15. The holiday is similar to holidays set under the Uniform Monday Holiday Act.

King was the chief spokesman for nonviolent activism in the Civil Rights Movement, which successfully protested racial discrimination in federal and state law. The campaign for federal holiday in King’s honor began soon after his assassination in 1968. President Ronald Reagan signed the holiday into law in 1983, and it was first observed three years later. It was officially observed in all 50 states for the first time in 2000.

Preventing Bad Breath!

Reducing or Eliminating Bad Breath.

Nobody likes bad breath, and although it can sometimes be difficult to tell if you have it, it is always better to practice good oral health than risk having a smelly mouth. There are many ways to reduce or eliminate bad breath, some are definitely more effective and longer lasting than others.

Ways to Reduce Bad Breath

  • Floss regularly- As difficult as it can be to remember to floss regularly, when it comes to bad breath, flossing is one of the easiest and most cost effective ways to freshen your mouth. By flossing you are reducing the plaque and bacteria found in areas of your mouth that a toothbrush simply can’t reach, and in return it rids your mouth of the smell associated with that bacteria.
  • Use Mouthwash- Using some sort of mouthwash can really freshen up your breath, especially if you find it still smells after  brushing and flossing.
  • Always Brush After You Sleep- Whether after taking a nap, or having a full nights sleep, you will want to brush your teeth in order to reduce bad breath. The truth is, bacteria accumulates in your mouth while you are sleeping ( even during a short nap) and that is ultimately the source of bad breath.

There are many ways to freshen your breath beyond just using gum or mints, the above mentioned are just a few for you to try. Test them out and you will likely find your bad breath problem is solved, or at least considerably reduce.

Hendersonville Dentist Participates in Contest

Pumpkin Decorating Contest

Hendersonville Family Dentistry Hendersonville Family Dentistry was recently asked to participate in a pumpkin decorating contest and of course we couldn’t say no! So we all sat together and brainstormed some idea’s on what or how we should decorate our pumpkin. Since we were participating in a dental contest we thought we would keep it in the dental category. If you have ever seen Monsters Inc movie then you will know this well. Remember when Mike & Sully finally become friends and Mike is always encouraging Sully weather it’s working on scaring people, or brushing his teeth. fd4b9a2fa7874cfa0fab132e5093b5a1

Remember this seen, where he is yelling “yeah get that plaque”. Well this was our inspiration & where we got our idea for our pumpkin.

Gum Disease

Gum Disease Is An Infection.

Gum disease is an infection of the tissues that surround and support your teeth. It’s a major cause of tooth loss in adults. Gum disease is usually painless, you may not know you have it. Also referred to as periodontal disease, gum disease is caused by plaque, the sticky film of bacteria that is constantly forming on our teeth.

Count Down Until Fall is Among Us

Only Two Days Until Fall has Arrived

There are only a couple of days until Fall is officially here. In our recent post we wanted you to share with us some of your favorite summer memories you were able to make with your friends & family this summer. While it’s sad to see summer go, and with summer leaving means it gets darker early and the chilly weather will soon be arriving.

What are some things you are looking forward to doing this fall with your friends & family? For me personally I love going to all of the local farms to gather apples, and pumpkins, not to mention going to those frightening haunted houses. Last year I took my entire team to a farm where we participated in a Zombie hunt. We were able to sit on a wagon and shoot zombies and we are looking forward to going back this year.
