Happy Thanksgiving from Hendersonville Dentist

Thanksgiving is this week, I can already taste the delicious food already! While I am excited about the holiday food, and the time spent with my family I can overhear my staff telling each other the Black Friday deals that they plan on taking advantage of. Are you a Black Friday shopper? I use to be, until I went shopping at the mall in Nashville and a fight broke out. I think I will stay in this year, and look for the Cyber Monday deals. Less people to deal with, and it comes right to my door.

So we have to ask you, how will you be spending Thanksgiving? Will you be running to different family homes to enjoy more than one meal? Will you be sitting with your family as you par take in the wonderful Thanksgiving food and getting a plan of when and where you will be starting your Black Friday shopping? Are you starting Thursday night on some of those Black Friday deals or will you be getting up early in the morning to get out and beat the crowd for a limited number of items on sale?

Either way we hope you enjoy your Thanksgiving holiday with your friends & family!

Dental Veneers in Hendersonville, TN

Learning More About Dental Veneers.

Are you looking to improve the appearance of your front teeth? Dental veneers are widely used to improve the appearance of front teeth and are a much more conservative option tan a full dental crown. Veneers can be used to improve the appearance of staining, large gaps, large fillings, chipped teeth, or overall shape. Veneers are a thin covering over the front and biting end of the tooth to restore the beauty of a smile. Over the years we have helped many patients who opted for veneers and now have the confidence to smile again.

What Are Dental Veneers Made Of?

Dental veneers are made in a lab from a long-lasting porcelain materials. The shade can be chosen to a desirable color to whiten the appearance of your smile. Dental veneers are usually placed on the anterior, or front teeth, where the chewing forces are not as hard as the back teeth. The process of placing veneers is relatively easy requiring only two dental appointments. In some cases, only one appointment is needed. It depends on the fabrication process.

The first appointment is to “prep” the teeth and take an impression to be sent to a lab to fabricate the veneers. Veneers are fairly conservative in the preparation as it requires a small amount of space to be created on the face ( front), bottom and sides of each tooth to allow space for the veneer to be placed and look natural. You will leave the office with temporary veneers for the next week or two while permanent veneers are being made.

The second appointment is to place the veneers and make minor adjustments if needed. What a difference it makes in the appearance of the teeth. If you’re interested in learning more, give Hendersonville family Dentistry a call today!

Celebrating MLK Day.

Martin Luther King Jr.

mlk-day

Martin Luther King Jr Day (officially birthday of Martin Luther King Jr.) is an American federal holiday marking the birthday of Martin Luther King Jr. It is observed on the third Monday of January each year, which is around King’s birthday, January 15. The holiday is similar to holidays set under the Uniform Monday Holiday Act.

King was the chief spokesman for nonviolent activism in the Civil Rights Movement, which successfully protested racial discrimination in federal and state law. The campaign for federal holiday in King’s honor began soon after his assassination in 1968. President Ronald Reagan signed the holiday into law in 1983, and it was first observed three years later. It was officially observed in all 50 states for the first time in 2000.

October is Dental Hygiene Month.

October is a month for celebrating dental hygiene in the United States. The four components that make up complete oral hygiene are:

  • brushing
  • flossing
  • mouthwash
  • sugar-free products

Facts, have shown us that good oral hygiene contributes to overall good health. Research has proven that gum disease can lead to a whole host of issues like heart disease, organ damage & diabetes.

Teeth must be brushed twice daily. Patients are given live examples of the best brushing techniques. All the teeth must be brushed twice daily. Are you flossing at least once a day? Studies show a very small percentage of people floss and they are mostly women.

Our Team-Hendersonville Dentist

Hendersonville Dentist Thanks His Team

I would like to dedicate this blog entry to my amazing team at Hendersonville Family Dentistry. From our front desk personnel who take the phone calls and greet patients upon arrival, the the office manager who rungs the day to day activities, our insurance coordinator who is constantly on the phone verifying insurance claims, the dental assistants who insure the cleanliness of the operation and sterility of the instruments, and especially the dental hygienist who keep your gums healthy. I salute each and everyone of you!

As A Patient of Our Practice in Hendersonville, TN

As a patient, you may be unaware of the training and dedication required to be a dental assistant. Dental assistants receive one year of education and training post high school, usually at a trade or technical school. This is only the beginning of their educational path. Many more years are spent on the job learning the various skills and tasks required by the dentist whom they work for. At Hendersonville Family Dentistry, our assistants are required to learn digital imaging and crown designs using our CEREC technology.

Dental hygienist receive a two year degree in dental hygiene at a college or community college. They are trained in recognizing various disease of the gums and oral cavity. They are highly trained in dental instrumentation and the removal of deposits from above and under their gums. They, too are trained in dental radiography. They are much more than “tooth cleaners” or “mouth spa workers”. Many patients are unaware that the hygienist saves teeth every day through efforts at cleaning the root surfaces and identifying problem areas that might result in premature tooth loss.

And last, but not least, consider the front office personnel. The receptionist does more than just greet the patient and answer the phone. They are the right hand to the office manager, helping with insurance file claiming, scanning documents and assisting with the completion of treatment plans. They have the most difficult job because multi-tasking must come naturally, all done with a smile on their face. Our insurance coordinator insures they are filing insurance claims in a timely manner, collection of fees, reviewing treatment plans, answering patient questions about their dental insurance policy.

So remember at your next dental appointment be sure to thank our team for their top notch job that these folks do for you! From my stand point, I couldn’t do my job without each and everyone of them! So THANK-YOU!
